Perfect breakfast in bed
I never used to like breakfast in bed (you can't really move with a try on your lap and if you do, things start to go badly...and the bed gets covered in crumbs, which I detest!), but since having Frankie, I've learnt to appreciate those rare and precious moments in the morning (although for most of you 4am is probably still in the middle of the night).

Big Green
It has been so warm recently, it really feels that the winter is over. I bet you all have your spring wardrobes prepared and ready to go! I just can't wait to get out of my winter boots (although I tried it last week and bitterly regretted it), for the sun to start feeling warm again, for the world to turn green!

Lace
It's so sweet and totally feminine, girls wear it all the time, so why not use it around our homes to give them a bit of a girlie feel. The lace ribbon featured in the photos is from Parlane (£19.99 for 7 metres) and I use it at home a lot (I love to wrap presents in simple brown paper and then wrap the ribbon around them, it gives them that pretty and handmade look). You can use it absolutely anywhere, here is some inspiration.

More pastels!
It looks like everybody is just crazy about them! Almost all of our publishers have paid a tribute to them in one way or another (even if it is just a coloured envelope) so I will try to take some photos in the shop and post them here tomorrow. For now have a look at those new cut-out cards from Paperlink, we think they are lovely and so summery!
I saw these little beauties while on a walk with our little boy the other day...to all sceptics- here is your proof...spring is definitely coming!!

Cake Stand
I have some inspiration for you today. When decorating your home you can easily make everyday items look stunning by displaying them in an unconventional way. A cake stand full of lovely baking would make a beautiful centrepiece on your dining table, but you could get a bit more creative and arrange some flowers or even your favourite cups (who doesn't have even the smallest collection of china?) under it's dome.
How about using a cake stand to hide some of your toiletries on your dressing table or on a shelf in the bathroom? Perfumes, make up, jewellery, anything goes. It will make it easier to keep at least some of your belongings tidy (hiding is always a good way of tidying up, don't you think?). Put some towels or scarves next to your cake stand to soften the look and you will be amazed at what a difference it makes!
If you do decide to have a go at this, feel free to share the result with me by sending an email with pictures of your cake stand! I definitely want to see it!

The Spring Shop
We have been very busy doing a change over in the shop recently. After Christmas and Valentine's Day everybody gets a little bit fed up with red, so it's really nice to finally put Mother's Day cards out, with their pink, blue, yellow and green colour palette. It feels like spring has arrived. We also arranged some new displays and when customers come in to have a little browse you can see their mood lifting. It's so rewarding! I mean, what is it with this winter...enough already!

Coaster art
I'm not sure we should call them coasters, because they have become these incredible, little pieces of art. We have two new sets at the shop at the moment, so take your pick.

The Notice board
It arrived yesterday. I must say, hand on heart, it is the most beautiful thing we have ever had in Serendipity. Everything about is just perfect, the frame, the fabric, the ribbon and the writing in the background...everything. It is a perfect present for any girl and it will pretty up any interior!

Hello everybody!
Welcome to Serendipity!
I'm Paula and together with my husband I run a little card and gift shop in the middle of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our customers have always asked us, why do we not have a website? I think the main reason is the lack of infrastructure.
So we are setting up this blog to keep you, our dear customers, updated. We will be posting pictures of new arrivals, best sellers, we will be sharing our decorating ideas and gossiping. We believe a blog is also a very easy way of communicating, so if you have something to say, like something that we sell or would like us to reserve any item for you, please feel free to leave your comment or send us an email.
We are looking forward to seeing you here!
Xoxo
